Rates & Insurance

We believe access to quality mental health therapy is important for everyone and have chosen to contract with a select number of insurance companies to help increase access to therapy in the community. We understand that insurance benefits can be confusing and we are happy to answer questions to the best of our abilities.

Insurance

All of our therapists can bill CenCal (MediCal for residents of San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara County) and Aetna directly for services. Our therapists can bill some but not all Blue Shield plans.

We regularly bill Carelon directly as an out-of-network provider for PG&E employees as well as for Health Plans Inc. for KinderCare employees.

***We are no longer "in-network" with Anthem Blue Cross of California. We are happy to provide you with a "Statement for Insurance Reimbursement" commonly called a "super-bill" for you to send to Anthem to request reimbursement for fees paid.***

For all other commercial insurance plans not listed above we are happy to help you submit claims to your insurance company as an “out-of-network” provider. We will provide a “superbill” for you to submit to your insurance plan to request that you are reimbursed for your payment. Submission of claim or a superbill is not a guarantee of payment from your insurance company. You are responsible to pay for services not covered by your insurance company. Your fee for service is due at the beginning of each session. Many insurance plans have a deductible which must be met prior to the plan covering your service.

Services may be covered in full or in part by your health insurance or employee benefit plan. Please check your coverage carefully by calling your insurance company and asking the following questions:

  • Do I have mental health insurance benefits with an out-of-network provider?
  • What is my deductible and has it been met?
  • What is my per session co-pay?
  • How many sessions per year does my health insurance cover?
  • What is the coverage amount per therapy session?
  • Is approval required from my primary care physician?

Payment

Inner Expansions requires that a major credit card be kept on file for all clients. Virtual sessions will be billed to the card on file. In-person sessions accept cash or check payments as well. Payment for services is due at the beginning of each session. The private pay session rate (not using insurance) for Associate Therapists is $145 per session. The session rate for Licensed Therapists is $155 and the session rate for Licensed Therapists with advanced specialization is $175 per session. Please speak with your therapist regarding their rate category or concerns you have regarding payments.

Cancellation Policy

If you do not attend your scheduled therapy appointment and you have not notified your therapist at least 24 hours in advance of cancellation, you will be assessed a $100 fee.

Schedule Online

Current clients may schedule a therapy appointment online through the "Client Portal" button at the top of the page. They may also utilize the SimplePractice Client App to manage their appointment schedule, complete paperwork, pay invoices and securely message their therapist.
